About us

Louis Swiggers founded Loma Air in 1979. He gained his experience in aviation at 'Sabena' where he worked as an aircraft mechanic for about ten years. In 1964 he married his great love Edith Caluwaert and one year later they welcomed their first son Jo. During that same year he quit his job at 'Sabena' to start his own 'car sales and repair shop' in Heist-op-den-Berg. In the following years, three more children were born and completed the Swiggers family. In the meanwhile, his passion for aviation remained and in 1979 he bought a Cessna 182 with his good friend Marc Haegeman and they learned to fly it. Due to his expertise as a former aircraft mechanic the take-off of Loma Air occurred later that year.

Several decades later Loma Air has become one of the major overhaul and parts shops in Europe. Unfortunately, Louis passed away in March 2015 but as Samuel Smiles once quoted: "The career of a great man remains an enduring monument of human energy. The man dies and disappears, but his thoughts and acts survive, and leave an indelible stamp upon his race." Therefore, we continue (t)his race today with a team of 18 motivated men and women. With all of Louis' four children working in the company, Loma Air remains a family-owned business. We will continue his legacy to the best of our ability.
